The following manual comes from White Lightning E85 Ethanol conversion kits. It shows how easy it is to convert a conventional, unleaded vehicle over to run on E85 (85% ethanol with 15% unleaded fuel mixture)

I have decided the car is running lean.
The car has less power at low rpm and more power at higher rpm, above 3000.
The car goes up hill at low revs when cold better than hot: this is when the choke is on, and fuel mixture would be richer.
All the literature I have read is saying 30% extra fuel is required to make the correct A/F mixture.

As fuel approached the $1.50 per litre point, I began to investigate alternatives to current fuel supplies. There was a petrol station close to my house that had an E85 bowser. It was locked all the time with a padlock. When I asked the attendant if I could use the fuel, he advised me that a conversion kit had to be installed to so that the car could use E85. He explained that the fuel was E85: that it was 85% ethanol and only 15% petrol.
