Hi i would just like to share my story with someone i have converted my car to run on e85 which i cannot say anything bad about this is a wonderful product and let me tell you this when i buy ethanol i know that i am reducing my carbon footprint, I am helping Australian farmers and i am keeping MY money in MY country and not giving to to some foreign oil company or an arab oil shiek i am creating jobs for MY people. The car i have converted is 20 years old yes the litres/100 has increased and this is the table
Unleaded fuel 14litres/100km and im being generous here it's really closer to 14.5 @$1.40/litre 14 x 1.40=$19.60 So it costs me $19.60 to travel 100kms (this is not a blended E10 fuel) E85 17litres/100km @ $1.15/litre 17x1.15=$19.55 So it costs me $19.55 to travel 100 kms Not much of a saving is it so you say why bother remember E85 is the same price 24hrs a day 7 days a week lets say i had to buy fuel on a Thursday in Sydney ULP 14litres/100kms 14x$1.55=$21.70/100kms E85 17litres/100kms 17x$1.15=$19.55/100kms I can save on average $10.00min a tank using E85 so the morale to this story in my case if ULP is below $1.40 i should use it as it is cheaper so i have a choice what fuel i use.In my case if E85 is more expensive i will still use it please refer to the comments in first paragraph. Pros to using E85 enviromentally good engine runs cleaner engine run cooler (will last longer) more power smooth operation And now the cons fuel economy goes down but it is cheaper starting car will be difficult in cold weather if you are heading to a cold climate area i do not recommend using E85 So now you have a choice on what fuel you buy and how much you pay for it and who gets your hard earned cash and if your thinking LPG look at the conversion cost minumum $1000 after gov rebate and if you do less than 20 000kms year no matter how good you can make it sound it is not worth it been there done that E85 conversion about $300-400 get your money back in a few months it is the best choice by a mile and LPG comes from oil stop our oil dependancy help our country and our people and thank you for reading my comments |

HI to Aldo, thanks for your info, I agree that E85 is a better alround product than regular ULP. There are many reasons.
I think the main ones are reducing dependance on overseas OIL, it is an affordable alternative that can make a huge difference to our energy inderpendance, I can get E85 for $1.05 pL in Nowra and ULP is $1.58 so the enconomics are good. It would be great if there was more E85 available in the city. What kind of car do you have? What Kit are you using for conversion? Chris Mason |

1989 VOLVO 240 estate.I have a kit from white lightning but there is a kit that is not avaliable as of yet that is to be far better than the one i have with better cold start technology it is comming soon. The one good thing that i can say about ULP is that my car starts first go E85 on cold starts is annoying.I am heading to the snow next week i am going to run down there on full E85 and whilst i am down there i run ULP and on the way back i will post my economy figures when i get back.

Hey Aldo, very interested in the results of your trip I have been keeping economy figures for some time now, is the 1989 VOLVO 240 estate turbocharged?
Hope the start goes well up in the mountains, I think cold start problems may be for more extreme conditions please advise how you go. Chris.M |

Hi Robbie,
I'm assuming we are talking about a 2003 Ford BA XR8. This is a V8 super car and will do well on E85. Yes you can get a convertion kit for this car at our website www.flexfuelkits.com.au or by clicking on the link at the top of this page called "buy on line" We are a reseller for White lightning ethanol conversion kits here in Australia. |

Hello Cynthia,
Yes all Mitsubishi fuel injected models post 1986 are ethanol compatable so with the addtion of one of our conversion kits your car can run on E85. |
