The 2008 Indy 500: Australian Race Cars Running on E85
I love cars. I love everything about cars. I drive a great car, which now runs on E85 ethanol fuel, thanks to its inexpensive flex fuel conversion kit.
The weather could not have been better last Saturday, here in Sydney NSW – warm, breezy, flawless blue skies. Perfect: I hosted a barbecue lunch, to watch the Indianapolis 500. This year held right here in Australia: at Surfer’s Paradise, QLD.
As I prepared for the barbecue, I found myself feeling envious as I do at these times – I would have loved to be up at Surfer’s too. Our lovely, sunny QLD. I do look forward to our next vacation there.
But while the weather stayed gorgeous down here, the clouds collected over Surfer’s. The first 10 laps of the Indy were dry, but soon the cars were racing around on wet ground. What an exciting race in such dangerous conditions! Wow!
So what does this all have to do with E85? As you are aware, Australian racing cars are running on E85 ethanol fuel – so E85 got its fair share of free promotion today. The announcers reminded people how much better E85 is for the environment, compared to petrol. They mentioned that it’s 85% Australian product – better for our economy, and better on our wallets. Especially in these financially uncertain times.
Myth: the petrol giants want us to believe that E85 will harm our engines. False! Think about it: do you really think that the owners of race cars would trust a fuel that could possibly harm the engine? I mean, these cars are beyond expensive – they cost millions to build, run and maintain!!!
So who are you going to believe: those who have seriously invested in race cars, or petrol giants who are spreading these myths because they fear they might lose their century-old fuel monopoly?
E85: Better for Australia, Better for every one of us.
